OUTReels Allyship Education and Training is a program created and administered by the Calgary Queer Arts Society since 2009. We have delivered over 800 sessions.

“The Calgary Queer Arts Society Team was easy to work with and very accommodating to our organization’s schedule. They worked with us to ensure the content presented was relevant and fitting our organizational needs. The Calgary Queer Arts Society provided meaningful, enriching content that was enticing and appropriate for the audience, and led an informative and thoughtful dialogue with our team regarding LGBTQ2S+ inclusion and diversity, in turn helping us to continue creating safer spaces and expanding inclusion at our organization.

The OUTReels Ally-ship Education and Training Program seeks to empower businesses and communities with information and knowledge that will help them to build better and more inclusive workplaces. Sessions focus on providing tools and language that can empower participants to act as allies and identify ways they can reduce barriers, assumptions and stereotypes in their own workplaces and communities.

The challenge is that while many businesses know they should be more diverse, they don’t know where to start. Businesses reach out to us to request OUTReels training for many reasons – perhaps they want to create their first employee pride resource group and need help getting started, they may have an employee who is transitioning and need support, or there may have been an incident in the workplace that needs to be addressed in a positive and safe environment. OUTReels works with each client on an individual basis to deliver workshops, training and on-going support that addresses their industry and unique needs.

That’s why we believe in the importance of OUTReels to address this gap. Quite simply – we believe that you don’t know what you don’t know....and that’s ok! That’s why we have trained facilitators who are willing and prepared to answer questions, explain concepts and ‘meet people where they’re at’ in their journey of learning and empathy.
